Top-tier creative Michael Ohanian leaves Interone for the thjnk agency group.
He spent the last three years as CCO of Interone, where he was in charge of the key client BMW, among others. Now Michael Ohanian, 41, an automotive expert, is moving to thjnk Hamburg to join the Audi team in late summer as Executive Creative Director.
Ohanian joins Gerrit Zinke (ECD and Managing Partner), Heiko Freyland (ECD) and Anke Peters (Deputy Managing Director, Account) in writing the next chapters in the Audi success story. In recent months alone, the Audi work penned by our Hamburg and Berlin offices won 13 ADC Nails, two Cannes (Film) Lions, one GWA Effie, four Euro Effies and Germany’s first-ever Global Effie.
“Audi and thjnk generate excitement with unique ideas – and they do it on all channels. I am looking forward to working with the team and to the creative highlights to come,” Michael Ohanian says.
The BMW Driftmob – which ranks among BMW’s most successful social media videos ever and is one of the top entries in this year’s ADC competition – was created under his leadership. Prior to that, Michael Ohanian was responsible for Mercedes-Benz at Jung von Matt, where he met Armin Jochum. Highlights such as “Sorry”, “Sunday driver” and launch campaigns – for the A-Class, for example – were created during those four years. Jochum and Ohanian also won the first Cannes Grand Prix for Mercedes and their former agency with “Invisible drive”.
Armin Jochum, co-founder and board member of thjnk ag: “Among the many qualities that set an outstanding creative apart, there is one that has been especially evident in Michael for years: his passionate commitment to progressive new ideas. Michael has a keen instinct for creative blockbusters – and his rewards for that include 14 Cannes Lions.”
The Audi Germany account will still be run from the Berlin branch of the thjnk agency group, where Stefan Schulte (Managing Director, Creation), Sebastian Hardieck (Managing Director, Creation) and Hendrik Heine (Deputy Managing Director, Account) are at the helm. Their credits include work such as the “Land of quattro” campaign and the “Mechanics” commercial for Audi Service.
Michael Ohanian’s career has included stints at Philipp und Keuntje (Audi), kempertrautmann (Audi, Media Markt) and Springer & Jacoby (Mercedes-Benz, smart).
