24 June 2018 was a historic date: From this day forward, women in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are allowed to get their driving licence and drive cars. We celebrated this new freedom together with Audi in a spot entitled “Doors”.
In recent years, the role of women in Saudi Arabia has changed for the better. But one door remained closed to them. Being able to get a driving licence gives them a whole lot of new-found self-sufficiency and independence. The “Doors” commercial dramatises this in a charming fashion. We follow a modern Saudi couple and discover how this new step toward gender equality affects their everyday life.
