Made for Life: IKEA and thjnk tell the story of a PAX wardrobe that’s built to last.
Childhood, the teenage years, moving out for the first time. Children’s rooms become teenagers’ rooms, and after leaving the family home comes the first apartment of one’s own. And the PAX closet always goes along for the ride!
With their new “Made for Life” campaign, IKEA Germany and thjnk Berlin are highlighting the durability of IKEA products – not with grand promises, but with a real-life story.
It tells the story of Lea and her PAX – the wardrobe that has been with her through various stages of her life. It’s there as Lea grows and her daily life changes. All these years, the PAX has been part of her life: daily use, changes, moves, taking it apart and putting it back together. This is how its durability becomes evident in a very natural way.
One wardrobe, several stages of life. An everyday observation that subtly illustrates what IKEA stands for: good design and high quality at a low price. This is entirely in line with the campaign platform “Inspired by Life.”
In three 20-second films, different aspects of the story are highlighted more strongly within the same narrative perspective – sometimes family life, sometimes the parents, sometimes Lea’s world. The message remains the same: Life goes on, and the PAX goes with it. Stefanie Albert, Marketing Communications Manager at IKEA Germany: “For us, a good price and high quality go hand in hand. But a product’s value isn’t just evident at the time of purchase—it’s especially evident in everyday life. When a piece of furniture stands the test of time, it becomes clear what ‘Quality at Low Price’ means to us. It’s precisely this promise of quality that we want to highlight more clearly with ‘Made for Life.’”
Stefan Schulte, Chief Creative Officer at thjnk: “The creative idea was not simply to claim durability, but to make it visible over time. As spaces, routines, and life stages change, PAX simply remains part of the story. That’s really all it needs to say.”
“Made for Life” launched on September 1, 2026, and is being rolled out via TV, movie theaters, social media, and online video. The rollout is complemented by additional OOH and DOOH campaigns, as well as special digital formats on WeTransfer and Amazon Fire TV, which playfully extend the quality message.
